I’ve just received an email from a colleague targeting an advertised opening for a company in Boston. In addition to completing the application, he’s wondering if we can help him infiltrate (his word) the organization, reaching out directly to the hiring manager.
This used to be considered taboo, as it’s too aggressive (unless you’re in sales). However, in the 6 degrees of separation age, how can you not use the tools at hand to further your interests? And, given the economy, I’d expect anyone serious about jobhunting to do the same for a highly coveted job.
